Recent News

Some recent news about Stanley:

*Stanley is over his pinkeye! Yay!

*Stanley's favorite new noise is, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...!" He does it when he's happy, mad, excited, sees the cat... It's very adorable!

*He got another top tooth! Right now Stanley has one big top tooth that is so cute. His second one is now on the way.

Some recent pictures (all while he's eating):

Glory has figured out the best place to be when Stanley is eating. Smart dog!

Pinkeye

Bummer! Our souvenir from the trip to the Children's Museum ended up being Pinkeye. Poor Stanley!

Yum! Strawberries!

Strawberries are in season in Oregon. I got some from the farmer's market this morning. Today was the first time Stanley has had strawberries, and he loved them! It was part of his really huge lunch: 2 1/2 strawberries, a small pancake, a cube of broccoli, and 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese. He's a growing boy!

Sucking out the strawberry juices.

I love strawberries!

Children's Museum

Stanley as been crawling ("army crawling") EVERYWHERE! He loves to chase the dog, bang his toys on everything, and get into pretty much everything he's not supposed to. Since it's crazy to chase him around the house, I decided to take him to the Children's Museum. They have an area called the "Baby Garden." It's an area that is self-contained and everything is baby-friendly. There's a fish tank, light table, books, toys, and lots of other babies. Stanley crawled all over, exploring a lot of new things. It's amazing watching him be independent and discover his own interests!

Stanley is in the baby pit! He's surrounded by toys and mirrors!

Bye, Stanley! He's off on an adventure.

Stanley discovered a tube filled with bouncy balls...

...and a blue scarf!

The light table that looked like water was probably his favorite thing he found. It had orange plastic fish he could slide around and bang on the table.

Sunday Parkways

There's always something to do in Portland! Today was Sunday Parkways in our neighborhood, where they close off 5 miles of streets so people can walk or ride their bikes. In our local park, there was music, food, and lots of people. Stanley had fun looking at the kids and dogs, and of course, Glory loved the walk but hated the sitting!

Stanley loves to be outside!

Alberta Art Hop

We went to the Alberta Art Hop, a 15-block street fair, today. It was a warm, beautiful day. There were art booths, music, and a lot to see. A street drummer even let Stanley hit his buckets with a drum stick! We spent time with our friends and their baby boy, too. It was a great day!

Update!

Here are some updates on things that are new with StanMan:

* He got a top tooth (for real this time)!

* He is almost crawling. Right now he drags himself along the floor pretty efficiently, but he's started getting on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth. Shouldn't be long now!

* He is sick for the first time (I think). The poor guy seems to be a little snotty and congested, but really, its not phasing him much. He's still the crazy, active guy he usually is.

* He LOVES kale. I think kale is definitely his recent favorite food. He's doing great with feeding himself, and his food is getting slightly more adventurous. He has pancakes, tahini-and-jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese, lentil cakes, noodles, chicken, and more.

* He's wearing a 12-month size pretty consistently now. Some clothes he's wearing 9-month, but they won't fit him for long!

* He loves to watch the dog run around. He laughs when she barks, plays ball, or is just a crazy dog. He thinks the crazier the better (although his parents don't necessarily agree).

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was the best day! Matt and I planted our hummingbird garden. We also went to a plant nursery with Stanley. When we got home, my friend Jenna left a surprise gift of a lilac bush on our porch! What a fun day. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful family and great friends.

8-Month Birthday

Today is Stanley's 8-month birthday! I can't believe how fast its gone, and he will be 1-year in only 4 months! It turned out to be a beautiful day today, so Stanley, Glory, and I went to the park. Glory played ball, and Stanley sat on a blanket in the grass. He actually sat up the whole time we were there! Every day with Stanley this past 8 months has been amazing, especially these little moments like spending time together at the park.

Daycare

Stanley went to the 24 Hour Fitness daycare today! It's the first time he's been watched by someone other than family (and Jackie, who is pretty much like family at this point). I ran on the treadmill and was doing some weights when I heard, "Lauren Wonton, please come to the Kids' Club." Uh oh! I raced down, and there was Stanley with a few tears. The daycare lady said he did great, but he was getting a little fussy so she called me. She said she held him the whole time, and he laid his head down on her chest. I think I count this as a success! Although the 45 minutes he was in there was long enough for me!

Stanley's first daycare experience!
