Easter

We stayed in a cabin at Battleground Lake State Park for Easter weekend. We got there on Saturday, checked into our cabin, and walked down to the lake. Suddenly, we saw an osprey dive down to the lake and catch a fish. As he was rising in the air, a bald eagle swooped in and started to battle the osprey. The osprey held his own, and the eagle gave up. But then the eagle dove down into the lake and caught his own fish. That was a good start to the trip!

That evening Matt made a fire, and we roasted hot dogs & marshmallows. Stanley woke up early the next morning. Lisa slept in, so Stanley, Glory, and I took a walk down to the lake. When we got back, she was still sleeping, so Stanley and I ate oatmeal and played checkers. It was pretty torturous for Stanley to wait, since he knew the Easter bunny had come and saw some eggs hidden around the cabin!

When Lisa finally woke up, the kids opened their Easter baskets and started their egg hunt. It was so fun to watch the kids find the eggs in the forest. Each egg had a little plastic Pokemon character inside! Inside their Easter baskets, the kids found a chocolate bunny, a marshmallow egg, a pack of Pokemon cards, a small Lego set, and a dollar.

As we were packing up, Stanley was climbing a tree and got something in his eye. It was really bugging him, so we tried to rinse it out. It started feeling a little better, but it was still red and watery. We loaded everything in the car, and Matt and the kids went to the playground for a while so I could hike around the lake with Glory. I saw a beautiful woodpecker on my hike.

We got home, and Stanley's eye was still not feeling better, so I called the advice nurse. She recommended we head to the Emergency Room, since it had been so long, and his eye was still so red and watery. She was concerned he could have something in his eye that could cause damage. We got to the ER around 8:30 p.m. After a long wait (Stanley got to watch Inside Out while we waited) we found out Stanley had a corneal abrasion (scratch on his eye). Finally around 11:30 p.m., we were finally home, and our camping adventure: part 2 (trip to the ER) was over.

Even with the unexpected ER trip, our Easter camping trip was so fun and left us with so many wonderful memories.

Trip to the ER

Spring Break

Here's a recap of our super-fun local spring break week! :)

Day 1: Monday
Stan, Lisa, & I went to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). First the kids played in the science playground. Stanley pretended he was a chipmunk, and Lisa played in the sand area.

Then we went to see The Art of the Brick, an art exhibit by the artist Nathan Sawaya. "The world's largest display of LEGO art ever features original pieces of inspiring artworks as well as re-imagined versions of some of the world's most famous art masterpieces made exclusively from LEGO bricks." The kids loved seeing all the amazing creations made from Legos, and at the end they got to create their own.

After lunch, we saw a movie about space in the Planetarium. Then we went for a walk on the waterfront and on the new Tilikum Crossing bridge.

Day 2: Tuesday
Stanley went to his first day of basketball camp, and Lisa went to art camp. Stanley's basketball camp got finished before Lisa's art camp, so Stanley and I went to Washougal Waterfront Park before we had to pick up Lisa. Stanley rode his scooter, and I took a walk.

Stanley went to his third day of basketball camp, and Lisa went to art camp. In the afternoon we went to the Camas Library and saw the movie Sing.

Quick update!

Last week was Spring Break, and we had lots of fun! Before I write that post, I wanted to give a quick update on other things we've been up to.

Birthday Party
Stanley went to his friend, Jarek's birthday party. It was at Big Al's, a bowling alley and arcade.

I took Lisa to the store, Bricks & Mini-figs, to pick out her own Lego mini-fig. She got to pick the pants, body, head, hair, and accessory. She made an artist!

At Lisa's school, they have been learning about their senses. At the end of the unit, they had a sensory fair where they got to explore different activities using their senses.

Stanley and I volunteered at the Oregon Food Bank again. This time we packaged up 2 pound bags of brown rice.
