Family Fun Weekend

We had plans to go camping, but we cancelled them due to weather and fires. So, instead, we had a family fun weekend! We went to the zoo, swam at open swim, played at Chuck E. Cheese, bought new shoes, and went to the Adult Soapbox Derby. We've been busy!

Oaks Amusement Park

Oaks Amusement Park has a preschool ride special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays mornings during the summer. They only open the smaller rides for kids under 6 years old. Stanley has always loved rides, so he had a blast! Lisa was a little more hesitant, but she did really good! She loved the train ride the best, and really didn't like the Tilt-a-Whirl (even though that's Stan and my favorite ride).

Lisa wouldn't get on an animal on the carousel, but she
liked sitting on the bench. And of course Stanley, had fun
riding a giraffe.

Bike Ride

Stanley and I went for a fun bike adventure! We visited a trail we hadn't been to before on the Washougal River. It was a beautiful 2 mile bike ride along the river and across a bridge. We saw bunnies, osprey, and ducks.

Swimming Lessons

Stanley has been working so hard at swimming. He just finished his first time through level 4. They worked on fine-tuning kicking, circle swimming, and body positioning for breathing and arm strokes.

This level is so different than the levels he's done before. For the first time, the whole session was in the lap pool. At first, Stanley was really nervous and felt overwhelmed by swimming so many laps during his lessons, but then he started seeing improvement. He felt so proud as he got better and better at his skills. He didn't pass level 4 this time around, but starting in September he will be at it again! Stanley is a really great little swimmer!

To celebrate Stan's accomplishment on the last day of class, we had a picnic at the lake. And even better, they had an ice cream sandwich as dessert!

Round Lake Hike

Our little town has three beautiful lakes: Round Lake, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Lacamas Lake. Here we are taking a family hike at Round Lake.

Little Readers

Uh oh! Where are the kids? They're so quiet...this can't be good. What? They're reading together! Yes, the Wooten children are THAT sweet. (In this moment, at least.)
