Happy Father's Day, Ed and Wayne!!
Since I had to work on actual Father's Day, Matt got to celebrate early on Saturday. He started the day by taking Stanley to a car show. Then he went by himself to hang out with a friend and take a trip to the stereo store. In the evening, we went out to eat at Black Bear Cafe, so Matt could get his favorite dinner, a country fried steak.
It was a wonderful day celebrating Matt. He is such a great dad to Lisa and Stanley, and they love him so much. I appreciate everything he does for our family, and I feel lucky everyday for the family we have.

Stanley makes lunch!
Stanley got the idea that he could make lunch all by himself for Lisa and me. He didn't want any help, so I decided to use that time to clean the bathroom. He had a few questions along the way, but was pretty much on his own for the whole lunch-making process. He came up with a great, healthy lunch for us!
For him and Lisa he made whole wheat bagels with jelly (for Stanley) and honey (for Lisa...because she doesn't like jelly), pretzel crackers, & a carrot. In a bowl, he put peanut butter with crackers and cheese to dip.
For me, he made a turkey and mayo sandwich on bread, with an apple and pretzel crackers.
He did such a great job, I'm going to have him make lunch every Friday!

Last days of kindergarten
The last days of kindergarten for Stanley were full of fun events!
Classroom Party
Stanley's teacher had an end-of-the-year party in the classroom. It was a fun way to celebrate!
Spring Carnival
I was one of the parents on the carnival planning committee, so the night of the carnival, I was too busy to take pictures! Matt took Lisa and Stanley around the carnival to all the fun attractions: Clown performance, photo booth, bounce houses, animal rides (mechanical animals they drive), food & ice cream!
Field Day
The students had so much fun on field day! There were so many great activities for them to participate in. I volunteered at the bubble station. It was a little rainy, but the kids still had so much fun with the bubbles!

At the end of the song, each students said a word
that they thought described them.
Each kid got a "red carpet moment," and their teacher
presented them with a certificate.

Salmon Creek Park & Klineline Pond
The kids and I explored a new park last weekend. First we visited the water, Klineline Pond. The pond is set up for swimming (on a hot day, which this wasn't). There are lifeguard stations and a sandy beach. We watched an osprey circling the pond and diving for fish. The kids explored the water, and found fish, crawfish, and tadpoles. We had a picnic near the water, and then the kids played on the playground.
Near the pond, there is a beautiful trail, the Salmon Creek Trail. We took a walk on the trail, but since the kids had already done so much, we didn't go too far. Lisa was already getting crabby, and she kept yelling at me, "Stop following me!" Since we were walking on the same trail, I didn't have much of a choice to follow her. Ha!
We had a great time, and I can't wait to try swimming there on a nice day!

Volunteer Appreciation Assembly
Stanley's school had a volunteer appreciation assembly to say thank you to all the parent volunteers. As a part of the show, the kindergarteners sang an adorable song!

Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge
During Memorial Day weekend, we had a family outing to Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. There are two different areas of the park. One part of the park has a hiking trail and a Native American cedar plank house. While we were hiking, we saw a bald eagle and a snake. After our hike, we went to the other part of the park where there is a 4-mile drive with a guided audio CD. The CD had information about birds, animals, and water features in the park. We saw deer, bunnies, nutria with babies, red-tailed hawk, great blue heron, kestrel, waxwings, and red-winged blackbirds. It was beautiful and a fun way to spend the day together.
