Spring Break Part II

Here are a few more highlights from yesterday and from today:

Day 3
After we went to the zoo, Lisa took a quick nap. Then we went to a new park in our town that we haven't been to before. It had a play structure, swings, and lots of trees.

Day 4
Today we went to Lewisville Park. I took Lisa last week, and I really wanted to go back since it was so fun. Stanley rode his bike, and Lisa ran to the playground, where they played for a while. We had a snack, and then went for a 2 mile hike that exhausted the kids. We stopped along the way to throw rocks into the river. When we finally got back from the hike, we had a nice picnic lunch. On the way home, they both fell asleep!

Spring Break Part I

It's spring break this week, so Stanley, Lisa, & I are having a lot of adventures! Here's the highlights of the first part of our week:

Day 1
The Camas Library is having a free movie each day of spring break. On Monday we went to see Wall-E. They even have free popcorn!

Day 2
We had the neighbor kids, Lucy & Tucker, over for a playdate. They played outside in the sandbox, had a dance party, and played play-doh.

Day 3
Today we went to the zoo with our friends, Sue, Scottie, and Jack. We saw an orangutan climbing around with a blankie, a baby elephant peeing, and a seal swimming upside down.

First Lost Tooth!

Stanley lost his first tooth! Both his bottom front teeth were super-wiggly. Finally one of them fell out! Stanley put his tooth under his pillow, and the tooth fairy left him $1. Now for the other bottom tooth to come out!

First Friday

Lisa, Stanley, & I went downtown for First Friday and dinner. We ate at a Mexican restaurant. Both kids had cheese quesadillas. Lisa ate all her beans and rice and a little quesadilla. Stanley ate all his quesadilla and a little beans and rice.

After dinner, we had fun with the First Friday activities! The theme was "Spring Into History." So we had to go to different businesses and find answers to Camas history questions. I learned a lot about our little town!

At the Camas Art Gallery, they were having a drawing for a beautiful glass dish made by a local artist. Guess who won? Me!

The kids got to throw toilet paper into a toilet seat, play a Plinko game, and make s'mores. By the time we got home 2 1/2  hours later, they were so tired!

April Fools!

I had to play a few tricks on the kids for April Fools, of course!

Hiking with Lisa

Lisa was feeling a little better, so we went for a hike at a new park we haven't been to yet, Lewisville Regional Park. It our county's oldest park, and was created during the Great Depression. It has 3-miles of trails, a playground, and access to the East Fork Lewis River.

Lisa and I hiked about a mile of the trails, which had an abundance of big beautiful trees, blooming trilliums, and singing birds. We watched a pileated woodpecker on an old snag for a while, and Lisa also marveled at how tall the trees were.

After we hiked, we found a place on the edge of the river and enjoyed the view. Lisa threw rocks and watched the water splash. We also found a butterfly and followed it around the grass. What a perfect day!

Easter Egg Hunt

Since Lisa was sick on Easter, I took Stanley to the town Easter egg hunt by himself. They have the egg hunt in a park, and they create divisions for different age groups. Stanley was in the 6-7 group. No parents are allowed inside the boundaries, so the kids battle it out on their own--and it's very entertaining!

Most eggs have candy or little toys inside, but some have tokens that you can turn in for a prize. Stanley got one token. We were excited about that, until we had to wait in line to get the prize! It was so long, and in the end, the prize was pretty boring (a squishy, toy egg).

It was a fun Easter activity, and Stanley had a great time! We only got rained on a little bit on the walk home, but for the most part, the weather cooperated to make a beautiful day.
