Adventures with Mommy

Now that it's summer, and I am done with school and there's good weather, Stanley and I are going on a lot of adventures! Here's some of our latest:

Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area
We went bird watching and hiking at a local wetlands area. Stanley took his new hiking backpack and binoculars (he packed a Sesame Street book too). We saw a Great Blue Heron and lots of other little birds. He had to ride on my shoulders for a while at the end, but he's my little hiking buddy!

Beautiful water...we didn't see many animals today, but
there were lots of chewed trees from beavers and there
are also otters that live here, too.

Strawberry Picking
We went to Sauvie Island to Kruger's Farm to pick strawberries. Not one of the strawberries Stanley picked made it into our box, instead they ended up in his tummy!

Car Shows

Stanley and Matt have gone to a few car shows lately. It's a great time for a little daddy-son bonding. When you ask Stanley where they're going, he says, "To see hot rods!" His favorite part, though, is when he gets to drive...especially the army trucks!

Jr. Rose Festival Parade

Stanley went to his first parade! He's been talking about wanting to be in a marching band, so I thought it would be a great experience for him to see actual marching bands. When he saw the opening police motorcycles and ambulance start the parade, he started yelling and cheering. He was so excited! By the end of the parade, he was convinced he wants to play the drums in a marching band.

Zoo Train

We went to the zoo, and Stanley got to ride the zoo train for the first time. It is a 45 minute ride through the hills and trees of Washington Park. Chugga chugga, choo choo!
