Stanley gets glasses!

When Stanley went to his 7-year-old check up at the doctor, we discovered that one of his eyes was not seeing as clear as the other. So, I scheduled a follow-up appointment at the eye doctor. The eye doctor said that Stanley has a stigmatism in one of his eyes. Together, he sees 20/20, but that is because his stronger eye is making up for his weaker one. Over time, this can cause a lazy eye, so Stanley has been prescribed glasses to even his eyes.

That is the technical reason for his glasses, but none of that matters to Stanley. He is just super-excited to have them! He wears them at school when he's in the classroom, and at home when he's reading. He said his friends have all been saying nice things to him, like, "Your glasses look nice on you." "I wish I had glasses." "I want glasses like yours." I'm so glad he has had such a positive experience with his glasses so far.

Papa Visits Washington

We were so lucky to have Papa come to visit us from Indiana. He took the long flight across the country to see our new house and town. There were so many memorable moments in the short time that Papa was here: hiking, World Series Cubs games, Boo Bash, Grandparents' breakfast, milkshakes, and so much more! Stanley and Lisa enjoyed every minute they spent with him and kept saying, "We love you, Papa!" It was such a fun visit, and we all can't wait until he comes back again!

Field trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Lisa's preschool took a field trip to the pumpkin patch. We rode on the school bus to get to the farm, which was Lisa's first time riding a bus! She was so excited. When we got there, the kids got to play in a hay maze. Then they visited with animals and got to feed them. There were goats, pigs, ponies, chickens, sheep, turkeys, a cow, and a donkey. They got to climb on a hay pyramid, and then they took a hay ride out to the pumpkin field. She picked a perfect little pumpkin that she got to take home. On the bus ride back to the school, she fell asleep with her head in my lap. It was a beautiful Fall day at the pumpkin patch!

Washougal Waterfront Park

Stanley and I visited the new Washougal Waterfront Park today, which has a beautiful trail along the Columbia River.

Lisa at preschool

Lisa started preschool in the 3's class. She has so much fun at school and loves her teacher, Mrs. Nuce. She is going to a cooperative school, so I have duties at the school including being parent helper and having a job (mine is putting up bulletin boards). It is such a sweet school!
