One-Year Doctor Visit

Stanley went to the doctor today for his one-year visit. He got weighed, measured, and got 3 shots. I was really dreading those shots, but he got over the pain quickly. He seems to be right on track. He's walking, saying a few words, pointing, imitating...all the milestones he supposed to be meeting!

Music at Milagros

We went to see live music at Milagros today. Mr. Ben played a lot of fun songs, including "Old Mick Jagger Had a Band (Called the Rolling Stones)." Stanley was loving the music and loving walking around checking out all the other kids.

Park with friends

Stanley went to the park with some of his baby friends today. He played in the sandbox and went swinging. Unfortunately a little girl threw a toy at him, and he got a scratch below his eye. Bummer! When he got up from his nap, I had to clean sand out of his eyes, ears, diaper...sand everywhere!

Westmoreland Park

We had a picnic today at Westmoreland Park after shoe shopping for Stanley. He loved looking at the ducks and geese. Stanley really likes birds. In fact, the first thing he ever pointed at was a bird. He also had fun swinging, but probably liked looking at the other kids even better.

Look! A goose!

OMSI

We've recently discovered a new museum in town: Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). It has a great young-kid area called the Science Playground. Stanley has so much fun there, we've gone twice in the past week! Both times he's gone, he's played so hard that he's napped for 3 hours afterwards. Stanley is also walking a lot more now. He walks about as much as he crawls, and OMSI was a big motivator to get him to walk more. I think he will be exclusively walking in the next week or two!

Stanley Turns ONE!

Yesterday was Stanley's first birthday! He started the day with a special breakfast of french toast and blueberries. We spent the rest of the day preparing for his Cookie Monster birthday party. Stanley's guests arrived, and Stanley had fun playing with his little friends (and his grown-up friends, too!). We all at delicious BBQ that his Daddy made. He opened presents, and loved all the thoughtful things he got, like a drum, rhythm instruments, Sesame Street books, Fall clothes, Purdue clothes, animal basketball toy, wooden alligator pull-toy, and so much more! Then we all sang happy birthday to him, and he was presented with his first "real" cupcake. (He already had a "healthy" cupcake, but nothing like the straight-up sugar one I gave him on his actual bday.) I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but he ate the WHOLE thing! He was even eating the crumbs off his tray! After his first few bites he clapped since he liked it so much. Everything at the party was so fun, from the guests to the Cookie Monster balloons. Stanley enjoyed every minute of it!
