Halloween & Indiana Visit

Sorry for the delay in updating the blog lately. We got some great news...a new baby is on the way! I think my energy has been zapped, but I'm feeling a bit better now. Time for updates!

On Halloween, Stanley and I flew to Indiana to visit the Scharnaks. Stanley's Uncle Matt and Aunt Kathleen recently had a baby, so we went to see Stanley's newest cousin, Oliver. He is such a darling baby, but of course he is!

Since we flew in on Halloween, we went trick-or-treating in Pittsboro. Stanley had a lot of fun, and Papa enjoyed watching Stanley wearing his costume and going door to door. We flew back a few days later with lots of good memories and a new cousin in our hearts!

The Indianapolis airport had a t.v. set up just for kids.
I think more airports should implement this for parents' sanity.

Pumpkin Patch

It's that time of year again--time to visit the pumpkin patch! We are having a sunny, dry October so far, so we decided to take advantage of it. We went to Kruger's Farm to find our pumpkins. It's a nice farm with hayrides, roasted corn, pony rides, and of course, pumpkins!

Getting back to his Midwestern roots.

Hayride with Daddy

I asked him to stop to take a picture, and he said, "Not
right now, Mommy. I'm too busy."

He's trying to find the perfect pumpkin. He tried out a lot
of them, but many didn't pass the test. "Too heavy." "Too
green." He was very picky!

Finally! He found his perfect pumpkin.

"I'm a pumpkin head!"

Riding on the pony, Abby

He rode the pony all by himself! And had so much fun!

Stanley's 3rd Birthday

Happy 3rd birthday to our special little guy! His birthday was Wednesday, which was the first day of school, so Stanley spent the day with his daddy. They ate breakfast at IHOP, where Stanley excitedly ate pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. They went to Target to buy toys with a gift card his aunt and cousins sent him. And then they went to the park, where they ran into Stanley's best buddy, Olin. When mommy got home from work, Stanley opened presents from family. Stanley requested pizza for his birthday dinner, so we went to Old Chicago. He even got a giant sundae with a candle to blow out.

Stanley had his birthday party today. He had 4 things he wanted at his birthday: firetruck cake, party blowers, grilled cheese, and games. So we had a firetruck party! Stanley's friends came over and played in the backyard. They played a game of finding flames printed on cards hidden in the yard. They ate grilled cheese for lunch. And of course ate cake and opened presents! It was a fun day!

It is amazing to think that Stanley is three years old! It has been such a joy to watch him grow from the sweetest baby to the sweetest young boy. He is caring and silly and smart and thoughtful. We are so lucky to be his mommy and daddy!
