Whidbey Island

We took our first family road trip this weekend! We traveled to Whidbey Island, Washington, to visit Stanley's Uncle Eric and Aunt Medea. It was a vacation of firsts for Stanley: first trip to visit relatives, first overnight stay, first meal in a restaurant, and first time at the beach. Other than a little grumpiness in the car, Stanley did a wonderful job throughout the weekend. He loved Uncle Eric, especially his fish tank!

Family beach time

Stanley felt a little nervous when he heard the sound of the crashing waves.

After a few minutes, Stanley fell asleep. So, Eric, Matt and I walked the beach and collected beautiful rocks.

Uncle Eric showed Stanley his first YouTube videos.

Stanley loved the fish! Every time he was by the tank, they would all swim to him.

Stanley eats his first meal in a restaurant!

Another beach, and Stanley is asleep again.

Target

Stanley and I took a trip to Target today. Stanley got to ride in the cart like a big boy for the first time since we got a cart-cover! He did great, but got really sleepy by the end. He fell asleep in the car and slept for 2 hours in his crib once we got home.

One of many trips to Target with his Mama.

Beautiful Weekend

We had a beautiful weekend in the Rose City! We spent a lot of time out in the yard, playing with the dog and planning some new landscaping.

One more update, I was wrong about Stanley's top tooth! There is no top teeth yet, just the bottom two...the reverse bunny-rabbit!

Top Tooth!

Stanley just broke through his first top tooth! Now he has 2 bottom teeth and 1 top tooth.

Then and Now

I met my friend Jackie in prenatal water aerobics, and we ended up having our boys two days apart. Our sons have known each other before they were born, and its so fun watching them grow up together. It's amazing how much they've already changed!

Olin and Stanley together at 2 months old.

Here they are 5 months later!

Reading Books with Daddy

Stanley and Daddy are reading books before bedtime.

Stanley loves to open the flaps of his Peekaboo books.

There is a lot of laughing and smiling when its book time!

Exersaucer

I got Stanley an exersaucer the other day, and he is having a blast with it! Until now, he's been happy in his bouncy chair, but he's getting too big for it. So, I had to think of something else to occupy him when I try to accomplish something during the day, like making dinner or doing dishes. When I put him in the exersaucer for the first time, he was so excited and wanted to touch all the new toys. I kept calling his name to take a picture, but he didn't even want to look up! He would appease me for a moment and then go back to playing.

I'm so happy!

Now I'm back to concentrating on my new toys!

Baby Louie

Stanley has a new friend, Louie, who is 1 month old. (Stanley is almost exactly 6 months older than him.) It's pretty amazing that just a few months ago, Stanley was as little and new as Louie is now. It's also crazy to think that one day they are going to be starting kindergarten in the same year! Hopefully they'll be friends for life.

Sitting Up

Although its been a slow process, I think Stanley is finally sitting up! He's been rolling around so much, I don't think he saw the need to sit up (What is fun about sitting up, Mom?). But now, he's starting to play with toys while sitting instead of just laying down.

Sitting up like a big boy!

Shaking his caterpillar--he loves toys that make noise!

What's Stanley Eating?

I've been combining self-feeding with purees lately, and its going great! Stanley definitely likes feeding himself, so there has to be a portion of each meal that he can feel himself. Some of those things are Cheerios, cooked apple, ripe pear, scrambled egg yolk, and steamed sweet potato. He's also eating some purees from a spoon. Of course, he doesn't let me actually put the spoon in his mouth. He has to take it from me, and do it himself, but he seems to like it. He's eaten pureed peas, asparagus, and bananas. I made a bunch of purees to keep in the freezer today, like apple/banana, sweet potato/carrot, sweet potato, and asparagus. Stanley's eating 3 meals a day now, so I guess I have to start being prepared! This is a whole new world, and we're definitely learning a lot.

Busy Day!

Stanley had a busy day with friends today!

First we had lunch with Jenna at school. Stanley's first of many trips to schools!

Then Stanley had a play-date with his favorite friend, Olin. They played with toys, went for a walk, and went to the park.
