We always love visiting the Rice Museum of Rocks & Minerals. The kids are really interested in looking at the wide-variety of colors and shapes of rocks. There are also fossils and petrified wood. It's beautiful!

Lisa's First Soccer Game
Lisa played in her first soccer game with her team, the Ladybugs. I think her favorite part was eating snack on the blanket while she had a break from playing.

First Day of School
Stanley & Lisa started the school year: Lisa is in kindergarten & Stanley is in 3rd grade. Stanley's first day was Tuesday, and Lisa started on Wednesday. The kindergarteners are having a slow start to the year, so they are having shorter school weeks for the first 2 weeks of school. They both like their teachers and their classes. Stanley has 19 kids in his class, and Lisa has 15 kids in her's. It's such a nice, sweet elementary school! We are very lucky!

Stanley's 9th Birthday!
We celebrated Stanley's birthday on September 1 with "Stanley's Special Day." He planned everything he wanted to do that day, and we followed his plan: We went to Fred Meyer & Target, and then to Bricks & Minifigs (a Lego-themed store). We went out to lunch at Red Robin, and he had a bacon cheeseburger. Then we went to Chuck E. Cheese, so he could play his favorite Terminator game with his dad. We also gave him his present from us, which was a new Samsung Galaxy tablet. We set it all up with his favorite games, so he played games until dinner. His dinner request was Philly Cheesesteaks that Matt makes.
Stanley's actual birthday was the second day of school. His teacher had his class ask Stan questions to get to know him better. Then they each wrote a wish for Stanley. He donated a book to the classroom in honor of his birthday. He brought a Garfield book.
I really can't believe Stanley is 9 and in 3rd grade. He's grown up so much!
