Lisa's school visit

Lisa & Stanley have been doing remote school since the beginning of the year. The school is now bringing in small groups for an hour to get a little in-person time. The school requires a covid-symptom questionnaire completed online, masks at all times, and a temperature check.

Lisa had her visit yesterday, and really enjoyed it! She got to see her second grade classroom for the first time. Her teacher read a story, and she made a skeleton craft for Halloween. She also got to pick out books from the classroom book room to bring home to practice reading.

First Day of Virtual School

Lisa started 2nd grade, and Stanley started 5th grade. They are doing virtual school to start the year. They both have Chromebooks, and have a schedule for the day that is a mixture of live Zoom calls with their teacher and class along with independent work. They are rocking it so far!

Last day of school

We finally made it to the last day of this crazy school year! Lisa's 1st grade teacher had a time for us to come say goodbye and pick up an end-of-the-year gift bag. She also had a final class meeting on Zoom to share their favorites memories of first grade. Stanley's teacher had a final class meeting on Zoom to say good bye, too.

The entire school had a "reverse parade" where the teachers lined the street and we drove by and waved! It was fun, but also a little sad. With a wave out the car window, they are 2nd and 5th graders!

Quarantine Update!

I realize the blog hasn't been updated since New Years! Wow, a lot is different now. We've been at home for about 2 months. School was cancelled at the end of March. Matt & I are working from home. We've been having our groceries delivered and have only made a couple trips to other stores. We've gotten take out from a restaurant once.

I celebrated my birthday with a party with my friends on Zoom. We had Easter, with a visit from the Easter Bunny and a yummy ham dinner. Unfortunately the leprechauns couldn't make it this year, since they were also quarantined, but we did have a visit from the tooth fairy for Lisa.

This time has been filled with challenges, like trying to figure out how to teach the kids at home and having very shaggy hair with no salons open. But there are also some lovely moments, like getting to know the birds in our backyard and playing games together as a family.

I miss seeing my friends in person, and I know the kids do too. This family time has been nice, though. I have the best kids in the world, and it's really not that hard to be stuck with them for months on end. Matt is pretty great too.

Here are some of the moments we've shared through the past few months.
